Bikes, Kites and Boobs

This morning Keith picked up his new motorbike, he was so proud of it. It made Chris really want to fix his up.

After that we went to the Tip Top Kite Festival in New Brighton.

Hi.

Some of the kites were huge! There were kite experts there from all over the world (apparently). This tiger was just being launched.

Keith and Chris checking out the view.

Beached As Bro!

This is the whole view, you can see all the small kites in the distance.

At midnight we went to The Midnight Carnival which was part of the buskers festival and was at the casino, which I have never been to. It was surprisingly busy in there, I had no idea it would be so lively.

Chris and I after the performance. We had so much fun! There was a side show act (sickening), a contortionist (she climbed into a clear box!) and a burlesque act (for which the definition of "c-string" will help you appreciate what we were looking at). That was pretty much the last of the buskers fest, I hope I will be around next year to see a few of the shows, it was defiantly worth a look.

Keith's New Home

On Wednesday while I was having my first day working in the bookshop Keith found his new home. It is very rustic and a real boys flat. They are going to brew beer, work on motorbikes, print t-shirts and mess about in the huge backyard.

The inside is a very surreal shade of pink.

There are some amazing details.

Me dancing around in the dinning room. I love being in empty houses; the feel of open space and cool bare floors.

More pink!

There are several sheds in the back which the owner (a ninety year old guy) potters from his house behind to tinker about in.

There are some good foody plants; lemons, grapes, elderberries, potatoes and potentially rhubarb.

The house next door is abandoned, this place is really a ten year old's dream club house :) . It seems to appeal to older kids too.

Dinner For One

Tonight I made pizza and read National Geographic. I have realised in recent years I love this magazine, it has beautiful photographs, interesting articles and I find myself excitedly learning things (like how to make a shrunken head or that a day on Venus is 243 earth days); it feels like traveling stored in paper. I am thinking about getting a subscription. I have never had a magazine subscription before but I imagine waiting for each one to arrive makes the experience oh so much more fun and magical.

Post One Hundred

Yesterday we went out to Taylor's Mistake for a bit of beach time.

Chris's sandy, hairy legs.

We went for a walk to see the bay over where there is a little historic house.

But unfortunately this was as close as we could get, the earthquakes were not very kind to cliffy areas.

Sad fence moment, still it is one of my favorite places in Christchurch.

The little batches make me so happy, they are so very cute!

When we got home I made laksa for dinner.

And coffeed myself up for the evening.

So we could go see the burlesque show!

We weren't allowed to take pictures so here are the guys giving you an example.

The show was in the inflatable dome which I have always wanted to see inside.

It was an awesome night, we had so much fun! I think it was unanimous that the feather fan dance was the best with the contortionist as a close second.
This is my one hundredth post! EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeepp!

World Buskers Festival

Yesterday Keith, Chis and I went to the opening of the buskers festival. We went about an hour early to get a good spot and to eat our picnic dinner (cherries, strawberries, pistachios, toast, watermelon, olives, salami, nutella, lemonade and jelly things).

We played some cards and did a few card tricks while we waited.

 Keith and Chris.

 Hi.

The show was really good and featured Mullet Man and Funny Bones among other acts.

They have done a really good job of setting up the "Busker Park" with pretty tents like this one. I am really looking forward to spending some more time at these events.

Making Plans For Me

I am afraid I have been a bit absent. I have however been thinking really hard about what I want this year to look like for me and what I want to achieve this 365 days. So, in the past couple weeks I have been organising; I got a job at the university bookstore which I start next week (not to mention the babysitting I picked up), I have signed myself up to write a weekly arts news article for Canta; the university magazine and I have set high goals for where I want to be with my writing by the end of this year including having entered the Macmillan Brown Prize For Writers. Oh and I bought a tent... I foresee camping in my future. Improving my photography and spending more time here are also very high on the list.
Here's to a productive year guys!

Port Hills

Today Chris, Keith and I decided to have a picnic. This is the Asian mall where we picked up a few drinks like iced tea and some Melona ice blocks.

I convinced them we should go to the Port Hills instead of going to the park again.

After lunch we went for a walk to explore.

The hills look incredibly brown at the moment, since I have never stayed the whole summer I have never seen them look like this.

 Chris loves getting kisses...

Keith and Chris having a chat as they climb the fence.

It was nice to feel like there was nothing but power lines and tussock around for miles with a glimmer of city far below us.

Lift!

A Friday Breakfast

Raspberries are quite cheap at the moment, and you might have gathered I rather like berries. Served with plain yogurt. Om nom.

And I wanted to share this trailer for the Wes Anderson movie that is coming out later this year, it looks awesome (but is that really any surprise?).

Summer Wasting

This is my new bike, I found it at a recycle shop for $15 and Chris fixed it up. A bit of oil to the chain, some adjustments to the spokes and ta da! a pink bike for me. Now I need to find some way to make the handle bars a bit higher and it will be perfect.

We took my new bike for a spin and had a picnic in the park.

Cake with yogurt, apples and onion rings.

Keith came too. He was busy looking for flats and he will be staying with us soon while he looks.

We went back to his place so Chris could fix his car for him, his flatmate had a kitten; Zoe. I took my shoelace out of my shoe to play with her.
