Blugh

So yesterday I realised I am starting to get  a cold... I dressed in my new snugly jersey and ate a bunch of the mandarins Chris's mum sent to us in hope that a boost of vitamin C will stop those germs in their tracks. At uni I noticed the first of the leaves turning yellow and red.

The Tiny Book

Yesterday I bought this book from work for Chris, it is full of  illustraions and stories. It says on the back "The world is not made up of atoms, it is made of tiny stories".

Some of my favorite ones. The one on the left with the bicycles says (incase you cannot read it) "One wanted to share a life together, the other wanted to share two". It is such a lovely pretty book, and it is amazing what can be conveyed in a couple of lines.

Butterflies

On Monday after uni Chris and I went and saw the live butterfly installation at the museum. There were caterpillars, wooden frames holding crystallises and butterflies fluttering over potted flowers.

You were allowed to hold them.

Chris.

Yesterday some were released to commemorate the earthquake.

A Sunday in Wellingtron

On Sunday we were in Wellington, we had brunch at expressoholic, mine was a roastie and Chris had the big breakfast.

We walked around the city as it was waking up and Chris made friends on the way.

 Neat stairs.

We met Hannah under the umbrella and looked at shops with her.

And had lunch at the Mexican restaurant in Left Bank.

The new owners had some very cool decorations.

Hannah took me back to see her home with its high up view of the city.

I walked back into to town to find Chris, Jimmy, Keegan and Brendan, on the way there was this busker.

We got cake and coffee at Fidel's.

 Jimmy.

 Brendan and I.

While we were there we ran into Simon who was getting a bite to eat.

Keegan and Chris.

It was nice to be in Wellington again, I miss it when I am here.

Chinese Lantern Festival

Last night we went to the Chinese Lantern Festival.

It was very popular, there were thousands of people there and it was like a carnival with balloons and funny hats.

I really wished I could try all the interesting food, but it was not gluten free. There was candy floss though, the guy joked when it was my turn that he would have to make this one perfect for the photo!

 Matt came along with us.

The lanterns were magical, they made a kind of fairy land in the trees.

 Short hair see!

On the stage a Chinese reggae band was playing, sounds hilarious but they were actually really good.

On our walk home we looked at the lanterns in the Avon river and at the punters sailing along with pretty lights.

Haircut

I was really unhappy with my split ends and my awkward growing out fringe. So I chopped it all off to be the same length. I have never been happier with a haircut, it is soft, easy to take care of and neat. (Actually I made Chris cut it, he did a really good job).

Guess you thought, You could just watch, No one's getting out

Yesterday we went for a day trip to Lyttleton.

 Keith.

Matt; who is Keith's new flatmate. He is an American mechanic.

 Chris.

We took the ferry across to Diamond Harbour.

It was a very bleak drizzly day.

On the way a yacht came whizzing past us really close.

When we got there we arrive to signs advertising free music.

Which was The Eastern, a really cool country band who were expert at getting crowd involvement playing in what seemed to be an old school hall. It was really excellent.

The performance was a fundraiser to rebuild a historic house there, when you gave a donation you could buy one of the old bricks, which Chris did.

It was so Autumny and cold that I wore stockings and a scarf.

While we waited for the ferry to take us home I read a book that I got through work at the bookstore.

And spied on people through the porthole.

In the evening we went to Classical Sparks in the Park. They played Danny Boy which was my grandmothers favorite song and Clair de Lune which is one of my favorites.

And when the fireworks went off they were timed to Flight of the Valkyries.
