You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in.

The Lyttelton Festival of Lights was on Friday night. Chris and I decided to see what it was all about.

It started with a masked parade.

There were many, many children on shoulders.

Beautiful lights were installed where buildings used to stand.

Chris bought a funny hat.

Then it was time for fire works.

Everyone took photographs.

Did your weekend get off to a good start?

Maybe I just need a change; maybe I just need a new cologne.

I feel pretty tired today from trying to balance on ice and carrying way too many groceries. As I was struggling home my supermarket bag broke and I was crouching on the footpath rearranging milk and cereal when a woman came up and gave me the reusable bag she carried in her purse (you know the type which fold up with a dome). She was so lovely, it is so nice when strangers stop to help.

We used to wash our hair in buckets and survive on toasted sandwiches, chocolates and soup.

I made French onion soup for dinner, with a sweet herb and garlic gluten free bread, which turned out astoundingly well.

Recipe for soup:
Fry some bacon and about three sliced onions in 50 grams of butter, slowly, browning but not burning. Add a couple tablespoons of flour and mix well. Pour in plenty of water, season with mixed herbs, salt and pepper and boil down until two bowls worth. Devour. Serves two.

If there is any demand for my bread recipe I can post it another day.

For dessert, half a grapefruit smothered in sugar.

Bon appétit x

You are ice and fire the touch of you burns my hands like snow.

Welcome to my blog!
This blog is a way to share my pictures and ideas and musings. I want it to be very intimate, like a conversation over coffee. I hope you enjoy and I can't wait to get know you better. xx
Today when we woke it had snowed all night and was set to keep going. It never snows in Christchurch so this was such a treat. This is me. Hello!

My partner Chris and I decided to go for a walk. Here he is cuddling up to the snow.

We saw frozen berries.

I saw a pretty cute boy.

And a cold looking circus.

Hi!

After our walk we had a hot chocolate. A rather wonderful Monday.
