Asian ciggarettes, a long talk, a few cans if you can

It was warm enough to have a picnic today. We had Curlywurly's, muscles, assorted lollies, persimmons, olives and crisp bread in the Botanic Gardens.

We then went for a walk through the decidedly Autumny trees.

 Hi!

Lots of people were taking advantage of the nice weather and there were lots of boats on the river.

In the evening we went out for dinner at Samurai Bowl. I had Tekka Don, Edamami and Miso.

And I had fun checking out the Japanese magazines.

Market Finds

We have been going to the Sunday Riccarton market quite a bit lately, and here are some of the things I have found. A bunch of old maps; one of bird migration, another of Wellington, another of underwater (the islands look like mountains), some of space, one of Ireland.

An orange typewriter, it can make friends with my blue one when it gets here from holidaying in Gisborne.

And my favorite buy; a bike from the 50s. It makes me smile inside.

A Simple Window Exchange

You might remember that I left a note for our new neighbors in the window to compliment their singing. Well our exchange continued.

They asked a funny question about the fence across the road.

We replied "We like to think it is to contain the experimental fire mice, who were imprisoned in the catacombs of the old university and who escaped in the earthquake. At night they try to steal all the wine and cheese."

Then I learned someone apart from my mother reads my blog! (not that I don't love that you read it Mum)

At this point we decided it might be time to invite our mysterious new friends to partake in sweet goodies. More to come!
