The absolute absence of a burden causes man to be lighter than air, to soar into heights, take leave of the earth and his earthly being, and become only half real, his movements as free as they are insignificant. What then shall we choose? Weight or lightness?

I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down.
There was an earthquake this morning. It was not that large, only a 4.5, but it was enough to knock our big mirror down and send glass everywhere. An the noise and the rocking was pretty frightening in itself I suppose.
We decided to go out and have a nice lunch in the gardens and a walk. I had an open chicken sandwich.
It was not an amazing day, but it was nice to get out and see the place anyway. We saw a school concert band performing, and could hear the rugby being shown at the 'event centre' (group of tents where stuff happens).
Chris has a cold, so he wrapped up super warm. I am almost certain he has given it to me.
This is what I wore; the cardie Hannah gave me, it is from Laura Ashley, the shorts are from Glassons, t-shirt and belt second hand.

I bet you think this song is about you.
This is how I looked last night when I went to a small get together at Hannah's house for her ex-flatmates birthday/return back to Melbourne.
I love the collar on this dress, almost a peterpan but not quite.
We are all in this together.
The attempt to replicate the ad by the shining to torches into the sky was not astoundingly eventful, but there are now big spotlights you can see for a long way round Christchurch shining every night that pinpoint the cathedral, so it is good for night navigation. I am unsure if it really went off as the hope fest. they were wishing for. All the same we went for a walk and watched the lights and made some tron beards.

How far we've gone, how far we're going, it's the here and the now.
Today with very sore muscles after biking and swimming all day yesterday (it was like a duathalon seriously) I made muscles for dinner, hopefully the protein will help heal my poor pippies. They were steamed in a red wine and tomato sauce with garlic, onion and thyme and a little water.
Fry one copped onion and crushed garlic then add a tin of tomato, a glug of wine and thyme leaves with maybe half a cup of water. Put the muscles in (sixteen for two people) and the lid on until the shells open. I served it with gluten free tortillas brushed with garlic butter and baked in the oven until crispy.

Do a little dance, drink a little tea.
Today is the last day of uni holidays and tomorrow it is back to working on essays and going to classes. But I have lots to look forward to, this summer is all set to be great; picnics, birthdays, swimming, biking, tea parties. I cannot wait!
Today I spent cleaning up the house and dancing to music. This evening there is an event in which you shine your tourch at the sky for a bright future for Christchurch around the cathedral. Pictures to come if anything exciting happens.

Flight of ten milllion bumblebees
Today was another beautiful spring day, and we went for a walk in the Botanic Gardens.
Someone had somehow tied some balloons in the trees, it made me pretty happy!
I love that it is becoming warm enough to start wearing dresses again. Just about everything I am wearing is second hand, the scarf my mum knitted me. Nice mum.

Pins and Butterflies
Hello! Today we went to the museum, it finally opened from the earthquakes, and as it is just round the corner it seemed like an ideal thing to do.
And the stuffed bird exhibit was the same as ever, which was lovely since it was one of the first places Chris and I went together when we were first going out.
That time we kissed in corners while the birds looked on with glass eyes.
Chris was particularly interested in the aquarium, I think he wants to have a wall sized one... I am not so sure. He spotted this albino fish.
The butterfly room was perfect, nothing says romance like hundreds of butterflies with pins through them.
Hi.
A nice way to spend a cold Friday afternoon.
There was an antarctic exhibition, which was pretty great.

We payed $2 to get into the discovery room, which was absolutely worth it.
There were glass jars with pickled things, like rats and reptiles and a human hand.

But lately I see her ribbons and her bows, have fallen from her curls
Today Chris made me some bookshelves out of industrial pallets.
The spaces in between are perfect for displaying those little trinkets that build up over time.

For Chris that clearly means plastic Pokemon toys and aeroplanes.
For me; jars of buttons, coins, badges, inherited (but not valuable) jewellery and little gifts.
And the best thing about the shelves? I know where I am going if I need somewhere to be.
(Don't think this meagre selection of books is a reflection of my reading, it is merely the few dregs I have managed to pick up from storage so far.)

Recent Flickr Favorites
This is something I have noticed other bloggers doing and since a big part of making this blog for me was to become a better photographer and to document my life aesthetically, I think a good way to do this is to be a consumer of images. If you know what you like, it becomes easier to create things you like.
