Breakfast at Hannah's

Tomorrow Hannah is moving to Wellington. We met a bit over a year and a half ago through Eamonn and because we had the exact same classes; Creative Writing, American Literature and some awful art history paper. It was not very long before we realised we had a mutual interest in second hand shopping, movies and literature. When we met I was still living in a flat which contained Keegan and a girl called Dale and one of the first times we hung out we played board games and Hannah slept over there (which showed some dedication since is was such a scungy flat). Since then we have had many adventures like going to Gisborne together after the February earthquake (I fondly remember staying at Siobhan and Alan's house and collecting blackberries to go with our pancake breakfast) and there have been many bike rides and pleasant meals and book swaps and coffees. I am going to miss you so much Hannah!

Last week we had breakfast together in her half dismantled room at the Log Cabin. I had walnut ginger honey and raspberries on toast and Hannah had porridge with the same toppings.

We went for a bike ride to uni so Hannah could return some books and met Simon for lunch at Welcome (possibly my new favorite restaurant).

All the best for you new adventures in Wellington and I hope to see you soon! xx

New Years Video

Mum gave Chris her old camera which has a video function, we tried it out on New Years and with some of my ill informed editing this is what it looks like. You can see a better less pixelated version if you click on the little 'youtube' icon in the lower right corner of the video.

Family Photo Competition Winners 2011/12

In the Christmas section I won with this photograph of an arcade.

Dad won the portrait section with this picture of my brother Thomas.

New Years was taken out by Dad with this amazing fireworks photograph.

I had the top in the nature section with my image of this crab.

Chris won the macro section with his rather smaller crab.

Dad unsurprisingly won the landscape section.

Chris the architecture with this silhouette image at GoMA.

And Dad the action with this surfer at Wooloolaba.

Last Night in Brisbane

On our last night in Brisbane we went out for dinner.

Dad.

Mum.

We all had the same entree, pork belly, with crab meat, mung bean and herb salad. It was amazing!

Thomas and I both had crab for our mains. It was so big Chris had to help me eat it.

Leaving on a jet plane

I got back to Christchurch late Monday night. The flight over had a spectacular sunset, it is nice to be home again but hard to get back on top of everything; like washing clothes and finding jobs and making plans.

Competition Runners Up

These images are the runners up of our family photo competition. Yesterday everyone got together to decide and vote. We had a slide show and voting sheets, it was all very sophisticated. There were nine categories and we had great fun and at times difficulty in deciding. The winning pictures to come soon!

It has been decided by general opinion that the images in the 'shittest' category, while being highly amusing, are ones that are not to be publicised. I will just leave you to your imagination to fill this gap.
* Note; where there are several second place images, these images were decided to be equally good.

Brisbane Day Ten

Breakfast for the last day of 2011, trifle, mango and coffee.

Then Chris went for a swim.

We drove out to Bribie Island for the New Years festivities, Chris could not resist making friends in the car park.

Vanilla fairy floss on a stick!

Chris and I went on a ride.

That is what it looked like while we waited for it to start.

 WEEEEeeeeee!!!

After having some fair related fun we waited on the beach for the fire works and had a picnic dinner.

And we waited some more.

And we played with our sparklers.

But we started to realise sparklers were a bit out of date.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!! I hope 2012 brings you many of the positive 'ness's.

Brisbane Day Nine

We started the morning with toast and water melon.

And then took a trip into the city centre. I love this arcade off Queen Street.

 :)

We had lunch in a food court that had gluten free laksa!

We saw GoMA (Modern art museum) where there was the Yayoi Kusama exhibit.

Which had several rooms filled with different designs.

And a room of giant flowers.

I liked their Christmas decorations too. In the evening we had dinner with Bruce and Greta which was delicious!
